Fair Lawn PD: Impaired Morris County Driver Charged In Crash Involving Paterson Couple
A Butler driver was under the influence of alcohol and drugs when his car rear-ended another in Fair Lawn, authorities charged. William Bateson, 37, was headed south on River Road approaching Fair Lawn Avenue when his 1999 Acura struck a 2014 Mercedes from behind shortly after 11:30 a.m. last Friday, Sgt. Brian Metzler said. A Morristown resident and employee at a local nursery school was the second to test positive for COVID-19 in Morris County, officials said in a press release Friday afternoon. The patient, an employee at Shalom Yeladim Nursery School on Speedwell Avenue, is working alongside administrators to notify parents and employees who they may have come into contact with. A 59-year-old man remained in critical but stable condition Monday after falling through an elevator shaft in a Butler building while helping a person who had their hands stuck in the doors, authorities said. : 2 Dead In New Year's Eve Butler Blaze
Two people died in a New Year's Eve house fire in Butler, authorities said. A 74-year-old man was airlifted to a hospital with severe burns sustained in the Myrtle Avenue blaze, which broke out shortly before 5 p.m., responders said. It was believed that his 72-year-old wife perished at the scene. Two firefighters were taken to the hospital with injuries that didn't appear life-threatening, responders said. The two-alarm blaze was declared under control around 6:30 p.m. The Morris County Prosecutor's Office didn't disclose further information.
