Harbir Parmar, of Howard Beach in Queens, has been sentenced to three years in prison, followed by three years of supervised release after pleading guilty in White Plains federal court to kidnapping and wire fraud following his arrest on Oct. 16 last year. Pettit, Jr. who practiced dentistry in Ridgefield for 32 years, died Thursday, May 23 at Danbury Hospital after a long battle with prostate cancer. He was 75. Dr. Pettit graduated from Northwestern University Dental School and joined his father in his dental practice in Ridgefield. He was born in New London on Aug. 5, 1943. Police were called to Motel 6 on East Main Street in Branford at approximately 4:20 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 8, following reports of a woman who was stabbed in the neck. As officers arrived, they found their suspect, 69-year-old John Ginnetti, who was attempting to leave the parking lot of the motel.
