A 15-year-old boy from Pleasantville — armed with a handgun — was arrested after allegedly pointing the weapon at a house, authorities said. On Tuesday, May 30, at 11:31 p.m., Atlantic City Police Officer John Bell was in the 600 block of Kentucky Avenue when he saw a laser beam being pointed at the house, police said. Bell approached a group of people to investigate "as it is common for firearms to be equipped with a laser sight," police said. One juvenile male began to flee, police said. Four men were charged with dealing cocaine or heroin in Atlantic City, authorities said. On Friday, May 19, Detectives Christopher Dodson, Eric Evans, Alberto Valles, and Kevin Perez under the supervision of Sgt. Garry Stowe were assigned to patrol specific areas of the city. A 36-year-old Cape May County man was arrested on charges related to a fatal shooting in Atlantic City, authorities said. Phillip Hayes, of Woodbine, was arrested in Atlantic City on Friday, May 19 by Atlantic City police, according to the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office. The man who shot and killed his ex-girlfriend before killing himself was a retired Atlantic City police officer, authorities confirmed. William Beattie, 47, retired from the police force on Feb. 1, 2010, according to public records. Police were called to Ogden Road in Deptford at 6:50 p.m. Monday, Nov. 28. Atlantic City Cracks Down On ATVs, Dirt Bikes At Gas Pumps: Report
ATVs and dirt bikes are no longer allowed to fill up their tanks at the gas pumps in Atlantic City, NJ Advance Media reported. City officials passed a new law, by a 7-2 vote for the new restriction which follows an earlier ban on all local roads. Now, ATVs and dirt bikes must be in a trailer or the back of a truck to have their gas tanks filled up, the outlet said. UPDATED: A 60-year-old woman jumped off the parking garage at Harrah's Casino, authorities said. The woman, whose name was not released, was from Rio Grande. The jumper was found dead at 777 Harrah's Boulevard in Atlantic City, initial reports said. The incident occurred at about 7:20 p.m. on Wednesday, July 13, police said.
