An accused serial arsonist on Long Island has been handed over to ICE because his charges aren’t bail eligible, authorities said Tuesday, May 12.
Elder Lopez Avalos, 27, was cuffed Sunday, May 10 in connection with multiple vehicle fires on Long Island in the past year, police said.

A man was caught on camera after stealing cash from a church donation box on Long Island, and police are searching for the suspect.
The man, wearing a tan jacket, black shirt, and black pants, is seen on video walking around St. Raphael’s in East Meadow around 4:30 p.m. Monday, May 11, the Nassau County Police Department said.
Inside the church, the suspect used a clothes hanger to force the donation box open and snatched about $100 cash inside, police said.
