A New York man admitted he was drunk while underage, speeding, and ran a red light before crashing into and killing a police officer as she drove to work, prosecutors announced on Thursday, June 11.
Matthew Smith, now 21, of Hauppauge, pleaded guilty to aggravated vehicular homicide and numerous related charges for the Jan. 31 crash that killed Officer Patricia Espinosa and seriously injured his passenger, Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond Tierney said.

A man has been charged with stalking and harassment after police said he repeatedly approached a 74-year-old woman while she was walking in Westchester County.
Michael P. Danko, 46, of Somers, was arrested on Monday, June 1, following an investigation into an incident involving a female pedestrian in North Salem, New York State Police announced on Thursday, June 11.
