A Long Island woman who blew off her boyfriend’s hand with a stick of dynamite was sentenced to prison time on Wednesday, May 27.
Keyonna Waddell, 35, got 18 years behind bars and five years of probation for the terrifying attack, the Suffolk County District Attorney’s office said.
Waddell, of Deer Park, got into an argument with her boyfriend at his apartment on March 22, 2024, according to investigators. The man left the apartment after the blow-up and told Waddell to do the same, police said.

Head-On Long Island Car Crash Caused By Drunk Driver, Police Say
A drunk driver on Long Island caused a head-on collision, sending another man to the hospital Tuesday night, May 26, police said.
Johany Ortiz Valdez, 49, was arrested on two DWI charges following the wreck in Hampton Bays around 9:30 p.m., the Southampton Town Police Department said.
The crash occurred near East Montauk Highway and Bittersweet Avenue South, authorities said. Responding officers determined Oritz Valdez was driving drunk and collided head-on with the other vehicle, according to police.

A Long Island man suffering from dementia has gone missing from his home, and police issued a Silver Alert for him on Tuesday, May 26.
Milton Batson, 71, was last seen around 9 p.m. Monday, May 25 after leaving his home on Springfield Road in Brentwood, the Suffolk County Police Department said.
Batson was described as a Black man who is 5 feet 9 inches tall, approximately 140 pounds with brown eyes, gray hair and a scar on his left calf, according to police.

A Long Island man was busted driving drunk through the Hamptons over Memorial Day Weekend, then hit with an extra charge after cops found cocaine on him, police said.
Leonel Josue Martinez Biznay, 23, was arrested around 9:30 p.m. Sunday, May 24, the East Hampton Town Police Department said.
Martinez Biznay, of East Hampton, was driving a 2015 Ram pickup truck northbound on Springs Fireplace Road, police said. An officer observed Martinez Biznay’s vehicle failing to maintain its lane and repeatedly crossing the white fog line on the right side of the road, authorities said.

A New York City man scammed a Long Island woman out of $44,000 in a phone scheme last year, police said Tuesday, May 26.
Servando Ruiz Cuenca, 45, called the 65-year-old Center Moriches woman on Sept. 30, 2025, and told her he was a Chase Bank representative and her account had been compromised, the Suffolk County Police Department said.
The woman believed Ruiz Cuenca’s pitch and transferred $44,000 into another count as he had instructed, police said. Later that day, $28,000 was withdrawn from the account at two Chase locations in New Jersey, according to authorities.

Long Island Street Racers Couldn’t Outrun Police, Arrested On Bridge: Authorities
Two drivers were busted for street racing on a Long Island highway early Tuesday, May 26, police said.
Jake Roth, 29, and Halee Solomon, 22, were racing down William Floyd Parkway southbound through Shirley just before 1 a.m., the Suffolk County Police Department said.
Roth was behind the wheel of a 2023 Dodge Charger while Solomon was driving a 2019 Ford Mustang when an officer spotted the two men and attempted to conduct a traffic stop, police said.
