Forked River Man Dies After Rip Current Sweeps Him Away Off LBI Beach
A 28-year-old man died after being caught in a rip current off a Long Beach Island beach, authorities said.
Police, firefighters, and EMS crews responded to East 21st Street in Ship Bottom at approximately 2:28 p.m. on Friday, June 5, after receiving reports that four people were caught in a rip current, according to the Ship Bottom Police Department.
Three of the four people had already made it safely to shore when first responders arrived, police said.

On Saturday, May 30, Woodstown police responded to Lee Street for a wellness check and discovered Jacqueline Martin, 59, dead from multiple gunshot wounds, the Salem County Prosecutor's Office said.

A Gloucester Township nurse is accused of setting multiple fires Thursday, June 4, including at his apartment, vehicle, and workplace, where employees and patients were inside, authorities said.
Taquan N. Ayers, 25, was arrested and charged in connection arson for fires in Gloucester Township and Winslow Township, Camden County Prosecutor Grace MacAulay said. Ayers worked as a licensed practical nurse at Oaks Integrated Care, MacAulay said.

Man Assaulted, Threatened to Kill Woman: Cape May PD
A Cape May man was arrested and charged with assaulting a woman, authorities announced Wednesday, June 3.
On Wednesday, May 27, a woman reported to officers she had been assaulted by Aucelio Juarez-Ruiz multiple times between February and April 2026.
Following an investigation, Juarez-Ruiz was charged with aggravated assault by strangulation, aggravated assault on a domestic violence victim, aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury, terroristic threats involving a threat to kill, unlawful possession of a weapon, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, police said.
