2 Arrested After Fleeing From Police: Lakewood PD
Two people were arrested and charged after they fled police following a traffic stop, authorities announced Monday, May 4.
At 10:55 p.m. on Friday, May 1, officers attempted to stop a vehicle on Cedarbridge Avenue after observing several motor vehicle violations, Lakewood police said.
As the officer initiated the stop, the vehicle initially slowed before fleeing, prompting a brief pursuit that was quickly terminated for safety reasons, police said. The vehicle came to a stop a short distance away, at which point two occupants exited and fled into a nearby wooded area, police said.

At 6 p..m, the dirt bikes and ATVs were seen riding erratically and refusing to comply with officers' lawful orders to stop, Middlesex Borough police said. A massive warehouse fire that sparked a state of emergency in Belleville on Sunday, May 3, has grown into a 12-alarm blaze, with crews still battling flames into Monday, May 4, officials said.
The fire broke out in the Valley section on Cortlandt Street and spread quickly through multiple commercial buildings due to strong winds, Mayor Michael Melham said.
