: BMW Driver Arrested After SUV Plunges Into Hackensack River
UPDATE: A 32-year-old man was arrested after his BMW SUV plunged into the Hackensack River following a late-night crash on Route 80, authorities said. New Jersey State Police responded to the crash on Route 80 east near milepost 66.9 on the Hackensack River Bridge at 9:49 p.m. in Ridgefield Park Village, Bergen County, according to Trooper II Christopher Postorino. A 27-year-old Boonton man was arrested for driving while intoxicated in Denville on Thursday, May 14, authorities said. DWI Reckless Driver Arrested On Route 80: Mt Olive PD
A 26-year-old Minehill man was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated on Route 80 on Sunday, May 17, authorities said. At 11:40 p.m., officers were on patrol when they observed a blue Pontiac speeding on Route 80, Mount Olive police. As officers spoke with the driver, Kyle Beyrent, they detected the odor of alcohol and that he appeared to be impaired, police said. Beyrent was arrested following field sobriety testing, police said. He is charged with DWI, reckless driving, speeding and failure to maintain lane, police said.

A 31-year-old New York resident was arrested and charged after he struck a construction worker on Route 80 in Mount Arlington, Saturday, May 16, authorities said. At 12:33 a.m., Jose Cadafi was driving an Acura SUV westbound when it entered a construction zone and struck a Kia SUV and Honda SUV. A Facebook Marketplace listing helped police identify a motorcyclist accused of fleeing a traffic stop at a high rate of speed through Sussex County, authorities said. Newton Patrolman Brandon Posey attempted to stop a motorcycle during the early morning hours of April 28 after observing a motor vehicle violation, the department said. A 6-year-old girl was among three people wounded in a shooting in Passaic Sunday night, May 17, authorities said. Passaic police responded to the area of 79 Sherman St. around 8:55 p.m. on a report of a shooting involving multiple victims, according to Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia Valdes and Passaic Police Chief Luis Guzman. Basement Fire Tolls 2 Alarms In Madison
A fire that started in the basement quickly spread to the rest of a home in Madison Borough on Sunday, May 17, authorities said. At 7 p.m., firefighters responded to the scene and immediately tolled a second alarm, bringing additional units to the scene, the borough said in a release. A 49-year-old Boonton man was arrested and charged with various thefts at the Meadows in Denville, police said. Officers responded to the thefts on Tuesday, May 5 and identified Kenneth Hollstein as the man who stole a sliding glass door and associated handles, Denville police said.
