A Hackensack man with a long criminal history is behind bars again after police said he grabbed a large knife and threatened a family member in an argument over cleaning the kitchen, authorities said.
Daniel Leandry, 29, latest arrest came Monday, Aug. 10, after an adult woman fled their apartment and contacted police, Hackensack Detective Capt. Darrin DeWitt said.

Bergen Grandmother Scammed Out Of $7K By Paterson Pair In Jail Scheme: Cops
A Bergen County resident lost $7,000 after a caller posing as her jailed granddaughter set off an elaborate bail scam, police said.
The resident reported the scam in January 2025 after receiving a call from a private number, Ramsey Police Detective Jaclyn Sabatelli said. The caller claimed to be the woman's granddaughter, said she was in jail in New York, and needed $7,000 for bail, according to Sabatelli.
The caller told the woman to contact her attorney, identified as "James Harris," and provided a phone number, police said.

A 46-year-old Manhattan man has been charged after a boat overturned near Liberty Island, killing a 27-year-old woman and a 5-month-old baby, authorities said.
Manuel Hernandez was arrested at 2:27 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 9, within the NYPD's 72nd Precinct, and charged with 13 counts of reckless endangerment, an NYPD spokesperson said.
