Homeless Man Bit Cop: Bridgeton PD A 37-year-old Bridgeton man was arrested and charged with biting a police officer Tuesday morning, June 9, authorities said. At 1:16 a.m., officers attempted to execute an outstanding warrant arrest on Romero Flores-Silva, who is homeless, at Walnut Street and Cedar Street, Bridgeton police said. Flores-Silva fled on foot and a foot pursuit ensued, police said. Man Gunned Down In Camden: Prosecutor A 24-year-old Camden man was fatally shot on Tuesday, June 9, authorities said. At 12:23 a.m., officers responded to a ShotSpotter activation on the 200 block of Morse Street and found Luis J. Bonet with a gunshot wound, Camden County Prosecutor Grace MacAulay and Camden County Police Chief Gabriel Rodriguez said. Bonet was transferred to Cooper University Hospital where he was soon pronounced dead, authorities said. The investigation is ongoing and no arrests have been made, authorities said.

Burglar Stole Dump Truck: Denville PD A 24-year-old Whippany man was arrested with stealing a dump truck in Denville, authorities announced Tuesday, June 9. On Friday, June 5, Morristown police recovered a stolen 2011 Isuzu dump truck being operated by Timothy Geary, Denville police said. An investigation determined Geary had stolen from the vehicle from a business in Denville, police said. The Denville Detective Bureau investigated and charged Geary with burglary and theft of a motor vehicle, police said.

House Fire In Washington Twp Emits Heavy Smoke: FD A residential fire in Washington Township Monday morning, June 8, sent plumes of smoke through the air. At 6 a.m., firefighters responded to a structure fire, Schooley's Mountain Fire Co. 3 said. Firefighters dealt with challenging access and a limited water supply, as they worked to extinguish the blaze, fire officials said. Numerous mutual aid companies assisted with fire suppression, ventilation and overhaul, eventually bringing the fire under control, firefighters said. There was no report of any injuries.
