Manchester Man, 31, Killed After Car Slams Into Hartford Retaining Wall
A 31-year-old Connecticut man was killed over the weekend in an early morning crash when his car crashed into a retaining wall, authorities said. Shahlique Payne, 31, of Manchester, crashed his 2013 Hyundai Sonata into the wall near the intersection of Elizabeth Street and North Beacon Street in Hartford shortly after 1 a.m. on Sunday, March 8, police said. He suffered critical injuries in the crash. Paramedics rushed him to an area hospital, but doctors were unable to save his life. It's unclear what caused Payne to crash, but Hartford police are investigating. …

A longtime Connecticut resident and priest who served the state for more than five decades has died. The Rev. Gerald H. Dziedzic, of Southington, died Feb. 25 after a brief illness, the Archdiocese of Hartford announced Monday, March 2. He was 78. Dziedzic spent much of his life serving local parishes and schools. Authorities have identified the 61-year-old man who was killed in a house fire earlier this week. Glenn Hall, 61, died of his injuries following a fire at the Lafayette Green condominiums in Clinton on Monday, March 2, police said.
